At what point in your life did you consider yourself a feminist? Was it an event or a process?
For me, it is a life-long process. I have always approached life with the expectation of a level playing field, knowing full well that it is not. By focusing my attention only on the results I intend, I have had many opportunities to model the traits and qualities that might help illuminate the path for others.
Who most influenced your awareness of your feminism?
I've always been inspired by the female characters throughout history that just carried on without apology. I may not have known it was feminism, but even as a child, I knew that I wanted to be that type of person.
In what ways has your feminism informed your life choices?
It provided me with a fearlessness which allowed me to follow any path I chose without hesitation.
In what ways do you share your feminism with others?
Setting a useful example would be my greatest contribution. Time will tell if I actually had an impact on anyone!
Describe your vision of a feminist world.
As a financial professional, I can see that an economic power shift is already in place. In this country, most household finances are handled by women and this should propagate through multiple cultures, given time. This micro economic trend is only just picking up stream. Spending and saving impacts markets, markets impacts politics (and vice versa) and politics impacts culture. The potential for change is immeasurable.
How I Define Feminism:
A philosophy that mandates cultural equality. Meritocracy might almost be a synonymous concept.
